Gallop into Bloom: A Modern Approach to Year of the Horse Florals

Forward Momentum Meets Refined Elegance

This Year of the Horse, we asked ourselves: how do we honour the season's spirit whilst staying true to our signature aesthetic? The answer arrived in the form of untamed elegance—arrangements that embody the horse's forward momentum without sacrificing the sophistication our clients expect.

Gallop into Bloom is our most ambitious Lunar New Year collection to date. Ten distinct arrangements, each designed to capture a different facet of prosperity, fortune, and the dynamic energy of the horse's gallop.

Why Orchids?

Whilst traditional Lunar New Year arrangements often lean heavily on kumquats, peonies, and pussy willows, we chose to centre our collection on orchids—and for good reason.

Longevity That Extends Beyond the Season
Orchids bloom for 6-8 weeks or longer with proper care. This means your arrangement remains a striking presence well past the 15-day festival period. It's prosperity that doesn't fade when the calendar turns.

Architectural Elegance
Orchids possess natural sculptural qualities that align with our design philosophy. Their clean lines, dramatic stems, and precise bloom placement allow us to create compositions that feel both organic and intentionally composed—luxury that doesn't announce itself loudly but commands attention nonetheless.

Versatility in Symbolism
In Chinese culture, orchids represent nobility, integrity, and refined wealth. But their diverse colour palette allows for nuanced storytelling. Purple signals ambition and achievement. Pink embodies grace and harmonious prosperity. Rare blue-white tones speak to extraordinary fortune arriving in unexpected forms.

This versatility gave us the freedom to create a collection where every piece tells a different story whilst maintaining cohesive elegance.

The Design Philosophy: Beyond Tradition

Our approach to this collection was deliberate: honour auspicious symbolism without defaulting to expected aesthetics.

Colour as Strategy
We expanded beyond traditional reds. Yes, crimson and magenta appear—but so do lavender, aqua-blue, and sophisticated purples. Each hue was chosen for both its cultural meaning and its ability to integrate into contemporary interiors without visual compromise.

Modern Compositions, Timeless Meaning
Gold-preserved botanicals replace plastic trinkets. Architectural negative space takes precedence over cluttered abundance. Natural moss grounds arrangements in organic authenticity. Every element serves both aesthetic and symbolic purpose.

The result? Arrangements that feel at home in modern spaces whilst carrying the full weight of traditional auspicious meaning.

The Collection at a Glance

From the opulent multi-stem Splendid Fortune designed for grand entrances, to the refined minimalism of Blessed Elevation with its symbolic gold circle, each piece addresses different spaces and sensibilities.

Imperial Ascent layers purple orchids with crimson berries and gold accents—drama grounded in sophistication. Double Fortune presents twin blue-white orchid stems as a symbol of paired prosperity. Radiant Gallop brings tropical heliconia and amber cymbidiums for those who embrace boldness.

The collection isn't designed to appeal to everyone. It's designed to resonate deeply with those who value distinction, who understand that true luxury often requires patience to appreciate, and who refuse to compromise on either aesthetics or meaning.

Behind the Arrangements

Each composition in this collection required extensive consideration. We worked with premium suppliers to source rare orchid varieties—particularly the blue-white phalaenopsis that appears in Flourishing Luck and Double Fortune. These aren't mass-market blooms; they're cultivated specifically for their unique colouring and exceptional bloom quality.

Gold-preserved elements were selected for their ability to catch and reflect light without appearing garish. Every palm frond, every botanical accent, every curve of moss serves the overall composition's balance between opulence and restraint.

The vessels themselves—from sculptural black ceramics to iridescent purple glazes to coral-toned scalloped forms—were chosen to complement rather than compete. They're statement pieces that elevate the florals rather than overshadow them.

A Collection for Discerning Spaces

Gallop into Bloom launches 13 January, with deliveries beginning 24 January. Each arrangement is crafted to order, ensuring the exceptional quality and freshness our clients expect.

This collection represents our vision for what Lunar New Year florals can be: deeply rooted in tradition, unapologetically modern, and designed for spaces that value distinction above all else.

Welcome to the Year of the Horse. Welcome to arrangements that move forward with you.
